Uber Launches Middle East’s First Fully Driverless Robotaxi Service in Abu Dhabi
Uber Technologies Inc. has expanded its autonomous vehicle footprint with the launch of a fully driverless robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi, marking its fourth driverless market and the first such operation in the Middle East. The service, developed in partnership with Chinese autonomous vehicle firm WeRide, is now available in select areas of Yas Island.
Passengers can book rides through UberX or Uber Comfort options, with in-app and in-vehicle tablet support. Bank of America analyst Justin Post reaffirmed a Buy rating on Uber, citing a $119 price target, as the company reported strong Q3 earnings with revenue climbing to $13.47 billion and net profit soaring to $6.63 billion.
The collaboration with WeRide underscores Uber's commitment to leading the autonomous ride-hailing sector. This milestone follows the company's successful deployments in the U.S. and signals potential for further expansion into emerging markets.
